India's premier inter-club golf tournament — driving the growth of golf across North East India, from the tea gardens of Assam to the world stage.
Misa Polo Club stormed to victory in the 4th edition on November 30, 2025, posting a winning aggregate score of 409 to beat runners-up GTA Solmara by ten shots. The field of 101 players from 20 clubs across six Indian states and Bhutan made this the most competitive edition yet.
The Meghalaya golfer also finished Pro Gross Runner-Up, building on his 2023 Pro Gross win and cementing his status as one of the Northeast's most exciting talents.
The Ladies category continues to grow, with Bhrama taking Gross and Mrs. Bobby Saikia claiming the Straightest Drive in a well-contested women's field.
From 7 clubs in the inaugural 2021 edition to 20 in 2025 — reflecting the expanding footprint of golf across the Northeast and beyond.

Golf courses in Assam have tremendous potential and we must provide the platforms to nurture this talent. Patrons like the BORBHAG Foundation must come up and provide a platform to promote these golfers and showcase their talent. There is no dearth of talent in the North East — we just need to provide the platform.

Government of Assam is promoting golf and tea tourism. We must link tea gardens with golf and our wildlife parks like Kaziranga, bringing more tourists and benefiting the state. Golf should emerge as a driver of high-value tourism in Assam.

Assam has the potential to be the golfing hub for the region, and a critical segway to faster partnership with South East Asia. We are home to some of the oldest and most historic golf courses in the country — many in our historic tea estates, including Misa Polo Club.

I encourage such platforms which play a role in attracting global tourists, boost local employment and economic development, positioning Assam as a niche player in India's tea-tourism sector as well as enhancing exchanges that bring recognition to the tea industry in Assam.

Today The BORBHAG Cup is one of the top tournaments in the North East. The quality of the competition reflects this, especially when such a diverse group of golfers participate.

Golf is a sport that brings everyone together — both on and off the course. I wish BORBHAG all the best and look forward to having more ladies participating as well.

A wonderful day of golf on a course in superb condition. The camaraderie and competition at the BORBHAG Cup is what makes it special — and the Closest to Pin was a bonus I'll cherish.

Green was superb and very fast — this is the fourth time I have been here. Although I had an interview coming up in the next three days, I knew I had to be here today. I thank BORBHAG for giving us this opportunity to play.

As we enter the fifth year of an effort that started on the Misa course with six golfers, we are thankful to the players, clubs, patrons, teams and well-wishers who have walked the fairway with us.
Golf has increasingly become a force multiplier — birthing a golf economy and powering tourism and real estate. Our vision is to bring the best golfers to the states of the North East, and to give professionals from the region the opportunity to compete on national and international platforms. Golf can also be a unique bridge for diplomacy, tourism and business with South East Asia and Japan.
From 7 clubs in 2021 to 20 in 2025. From a single Assam venue to six states and Bhutan. The fairway forward is wide open.
In closing, we can only reiterate the importance of partnerships — something we at BORBHAG display in all that we do.
